Allied Health and Public Health Meet, Greet & Eat
This is our 5th Annual Meet, Greet & Eat Event for School of Allied Health and Public Health Alumni. Please come back to the memories of where you attended school. Hear about what’s new in our schools presented by the dean’s and various department representatives, enjoy a fun trivia game, catchup with other alumni and enjoy wonderful savory foods and sweet desserts. We will also have a lot of currently published research displayed. Please join us for an afternoon of fun!

Research Posters / Presentations / Publications
School of Allied Health is proud to announce that over the past two years we have had over 150 publications and scientific presentations. Please come see our School’s continuing accomplishments in the research posters on display all weekend long. Departments with ongoing research are Allied Health Studies, Cardiopulmonary Sciences, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Nutrition & Dietetics, Orthotics & Prosthetics, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Radiation Technology. We are especially proud to announce that two of our physical therapy graduate assistant students presented research on the effects of laughter increasing brain gamma frequency (see picture). This research was presented at the Society of Neuroscience Annual Meetings, November 2022, at the San Diego Convention Center (2000 attendees). We look forward to sharing our displayed research with you during your homecoming visit.

Legal practice of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the state of California

Are you practicing physical therapy according to the California Laws and Regulations that govern physical therapists and physical therapist assistants? This two-hour course will review the current laws and regulations and point out areas where physical therapists and physical therapist’s assistants might be in violation but never knew.

Postponed: Shoulder and Knee Injections With and Without Ultrasound Guidance

Common techniques for knee and shoulder arthrocentesis will be discussed and practiced. This presentation will consist of two parts. The first part of the presentation will be a review of the anatomy along with demonstrations of how to perform shoulder and knee injections with and without ultrasound guidance. The second portion will consist of a hands-on laboratory experience where attendees will get to practice their technique on fresh frozen cadavers to best simulate injecting a patient. Attendees will learn indications, contraindications, tips/pearls, and how best to incorporate this skill into their practice. This lab will be beneficial to Orthopedic specialists, ER, Urgent Care, Rheumatology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine providers and many others who seek to learn, expand, and improve on this vital clinical skillset.

After Class Talk: Building a Stronger Therapeutic Alliance: The Importance of Compassion in Healthcare

Please join us and learn the importance of compassion for all professions in healthcare. Dr. Lohman discusses studies that have been done and the results to better healthcare techniques to use with all patients. This is a must see study, ready to share with our Alumni.
