I am so pleased to invite all of our School of Allied Health Professions Alumni to the sixth annual Loma Linda University Health Homecoming. We are so grateful for the opportunity to come together safely in person this year and there will still be plenty of events offered online for those of you who may not be able to join us in person. We have some amazing events planned for the entire weekend. Come and reconnect with your fellow classmates, visit with your faculty and come explore the changes around our campus. You have been missed and we encourage you to join us at Homecoming 2022.

Research Posters

Research Posters / Presentations / Publications - School of Allied Health is proud to announce that this year alone we have had over 75 publications. Please come see our School’s continuing accomplishments in the research posters on display all weekend long. Departments with ongoing research are Allied Health Studies, Cardiopulmonary Sciences, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Nutrition & Dietetics, Orthotics & Prosthetics, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Radiation Technology. We are also proud to announce that our total audience reached on happiness/laughter and high polyphenols/anti-oxidants research (with dark chocolate >70% cacao) have been seen in the media thus far by 1,168,573,645 viewers. We look forward to sharing our displayed research with you during your homecoming visit.

INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION (IPE) DAY

When everyone is an expert: Health, prevention and science in the digital age.

Please join us for our annual Interprofessional Education Day event on Thursday, March 3, 2022. This year’s theme is When everyone is an expert: Health, prevention and science in the digital age focusing on preventive health. Dr. Richard Hart, President of Loma Linda University, will provide the keynote address on preventive health amidst the information age followed by an interprofessional panel discussion on this topic. The latter part of the program will consist of a presentation on the clinical evaluation of medical literature regarding COVID-19 vaccines with a follow-up interprofessional panel discussion in this regard. This two-hour course will review the current laws and regulations and point out areas where physical therapists and physical therapists assistants might be in violation but never knew.

Nutrition & Dietetics – Eating Disorders: At the Intersection of Practice and Pathology

Sandra Banjoko, RDN & Patricia Ann Ford, DrPH, RDN, CEDRD

Behavior and thought patterns of individuals with eating disorders and disordered eating will be discussed. This presentation will consist of two parts. The first part of the presentation will address understanding the behavior and practices of the eating disorder population. Tools to support students and co-workers with eating disorders will be provided to empower the clinician and faculty in order to provide a safe, loving and accommodating environment.
