SCHOOL OF PHARMACY WELCOMES YOU TO HOMECOMING

Message From the Dean

Michael D. Hogue, PharmD, FAPhA, FNAP

Dean, School of Pharmacy

Join us for LLUH Homecoming!

I am so pleased to invite all of our School of Pharmacy alumni to the sixth annual Loma Linda University Health Homecoming. After our virtual Homecoming last year due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, I am especially excited to invite each of you back to campus this spring, though there will still be plenty of events offered online for those of you who may not be able to join us in person. Catch up with friends, earn continuing education credit, see the many changes to our beautiful campus (including our new hospital), and worship together with us during our fun-filled long weekend of meaningful connection and engagement.

I very much look forward to seeing you in March!

THIS PAST YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

The Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy earned full reaccreditation for the next eight years from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

LLUSP faculty, students and alumni played a prominent role in immunizing our community against COVID-19 through the Drayson Center vaccine clinic. The clinic ran from January to May and provided immunizations to over 140,000 individuals.

The Office of Continuing Education hosted several events, including an ACPE-approved CE on the pharmacist’s role in ending the HIV epidemic, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and RISRx/Pacific Pharmacy Group, an organization led by several LLUSP alumni.

The Pharmacist’s Role in Combating Systemic Racism

Jacinda C. Abdul-Mutakabbir, PharmD, MPH, AAHIVP

Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians are arguably the most accessible healthcare professionals. Nevertheless, they have often not been trained to connect social determinants of health inequities to assess negative health outcomes and this lack in awareness contributes to the poor delivery of equitable healthcare. This presentation will provide recommendations and actions that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can take to combat systemic racism and promote health equity.
